June was a busy month for the HPE telco team with news and events from HPE Discover and Mobile World Congress (MWC). Below is a list of highlights.

An expanded 5G portfolio announced at MWC

5G creates an opportunity for telcos to streamline their operations. To unleash the full potential of 5G, operators need to accelerate innovation and reduce cost while minimizing risks.

Building on HPE’s impressive intent-based orchestration and AI/ML-driven assurance, HPE announced a fully integrated, 5G-ready, closed loop solution, which dramatically simplifies the operations of 5G’s infrastructure and network slices/services from end to end. This solution is aligned to the latest 3GPP 5G and ETSI standards and will be a great opportunity for HPE customers to accelerate their journey towards 5G core standalone.

As part of the TelecomTV event, Rolf Eberhardt, Head of Orchestration at the Communications Technology Group at HPE was featured in a thought leadership interview talking about the new 5G end-to-end automation suite.

MWC highlights

During the week June 28, HPE attended MWC virtually and partnered with TelecomTV to provide perspective on the news from the show. HPE and our partners announced several new 5G products:

  • Orange announced Europe's first 5G SA end-to-end experimental network that is AI-driven, fully automated and cloud native. It’s built on HPE's solution for Cloud 5G SA SDM (Subscriber Data Management). Read the details here: Orange is building a network that will run itself.
  • Ericsson announced they strengthened their Cloud RAN portfolio with mid-band support, utilizing HPE’s technology, the HPE ProLiant DL110 – the world’s first server optimized for RAN workloads. For more info, read the press release or check out HPE’s page about OpenRAN for telco.
