Powering the Recovery After Hurricane Harvey: A Must-See Session at HPE Discover 2018

CenterPoint_sm.jpgAfter Hurricane Harvey made landfall in southern Texas in August last year, it left a swath of devastation stretching from the Houston metro area far into Louisiana. In addition to terrible loss of life, the storm inflicted massive damage on homes and infrastructure along its path. Almost overnight, more than 300,000 people were left without power.

Houston-based energy delivery company CenterPoint Energy was among the many organizations that took immediate action to battle the devastation. For CenterPoint, that task included collecting one terabyte of data an hour from 2.4 million devices. Dr. Steven Pratt, CenterPoint’s CTO, tells how his company did it, and how Hewlett Packard Enterprise helped, in this must-see session at HPE Discover 2018 Las Vegas,:

Powering the recovery: How CenterPoint Energy and HPE restored electrical services to Houston after Hurricane Harvey (Session ID: B4855). Wednesday, June 20, 2018, 09:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Dr. Pratt will also highlight the work that Centerpoint Energy has done to eliminate seven million service calls, and he’ll explain how HPE and other partners are helping the utility to further automate power distribution in Houston. He’ll be joined by HPE’s Peter Moser  and Matthias Roese, MDI Industry Domain Executive, Technology Platforms; and Gary Rackliffe  of industrial digitization leader ABB.
