Enterprise-class x86 Environments require enterprise-class support

HP’s position, and that of many industry experts, is quite elegantly summarized in this statement:  Enterprise x86 users require an x86 vendor who owns the end-to-end value chain and who is committed to the development, deployment, operation and evolution of enterprise solutions.

Let me break down some of the thinking behind the intent of that statement.

First of all, ask yourself what constitutes enterprise level support?  HP calls our approach to comprehensive enterprise level support Datacenter Care Primary Service Provider, or DC PSP.  DC PSP provides customers with a single point of accountability through an assigned account team who will understand your IT environment and can help you reduce costs and risk by reducing complexity and by helping you to resolve interoperability issues without vendor finger-pointing.  We back this comprehensive service with our award winning global parts supply chain.  The DC PSP assigned account team will work with you to help you improve efficiencies, and will act as your technology advisor to help you plan, evolve and implement the latest technology enhancements to your best advantage.

Here are some additional questions to take into consideration when choosing your enterprise support provider.

  • Does your provider have global reach to provide access to support capabilities when and where you need them – anywhere in the world?

  • Will you be locked into one supplier, or can your vendor provide multivendor support capability, backed by their proven record of years of experience in successfully managing/resolving interoperability issues across vendor platforms?

  • Will your supplier provide a single point of accountability to avoid finger-pointing between vendor support teams?

  • Does your vendor have analysis and support tools that include monitoring, fault isolation and performance analyses that support multivendor environments?

  • Does your supplier have a multivendor parts supply chain, that can rapidly deliver anywhere in the world?

  • Will you have regular access to Support resources who understand your environment and business needs?

  • Are there technology advisors who are familiar with your operations and can advise you on evolving your IT environment?

  • Is there consulting capability to help you optimize what you have today - and to assist you design, improve, and plan for the future?

HP can truthfully answer “Yes!” to all of those questions. Bottom line – It takes experience to be an enterprise support provider, and to keep your environment fresh and relevant it takes ongoing commitment.   HP can address both.

You can see our commitment in our drive to keep our services portfolio fresh and relevant to our customers’ needs, and in how we take full advantage of new technologies and trends so that our customers can benefit from both.  A stellar example of how we continually enhance our services portfolio is our release of Flexible Capacity.  Introduced two years ago, Flexible Capacity is a “pay for what you use*” service that accommodates growth using onsite hardware buffers.  This service offers the convenience and flexibility of the public cloud with the security of a private datacenter. Subsequent enhancements to the service have routinely been released, including Flexible Capacity for Multivendor.
