Especially for NEPs at MWC: OpenNFV Partner Program

Telco_Editor

If you work for a network equipment provider (NEP), HP has lots in store for you at Mobile World Congress.

You've seen that the transition to network functions virtualization (NFV) is occurring in both your own applications and functions and in your customers’ networks. HP can ease this transition by helping you move to a standardized platform (server, storage, and networking) as well as continuing to support you in your role as trusted system integrator for the industry. Most telecommunication control plane applications are already delivered on industry-standard servers. HP has been very active in this transition, especially in supporting NEPs porting applications from platforms like ATCA, to more cost-efficient and high-performance industry-standard servers.

HP provides a complete solution stack for NFV including a fully documented reference architecture and NFV infrastructure platform, a commercially deployed NFV Orchestration solution, fully certified and supported VNF’s for critical network functions such as Mobility Management, and an OSS transformation approach that bridges today's physical world and tomorrow's virtual world, protecting both past and future network investments.

We invite you to see the following demos that address challenges specific to NEPs in the main HP booth at Mobile World Congress at Hall 3 Stand 3A20:

  • Alcatel-Lucent vIMS on HP OpenNFV with Helion OpenStack: Alcatel-Lucent solutions on HP enable the virtualization of mobile core components to bring faster deployment, with automated scaling and proactive problem resolution. This provides better user experience control, ubiquity of communications and ease of development for enterprise communications.
  • Nokia MME VNF and Cloud Application Manager on HP NFV with Helion OpenStack: Building on the HP and Nokia NFV partnership, the Nokia Virtualized Mobility Management Entity, running on the HP NFV platform, can be scaled in and out and deployed in a fully automated way with HP Helion OpenStack and Nokia Cloud Application Manager. This is a concrete example of how NFV will bring improved operations and scalability to the mobile network core.
  • NEC Virtualized Mobile Core and CPE Solutions with HP OpenNFV: A range of NEC NFV solutions will work with HP to deliver network service innovation with field-proven carrier-grade quality.   This helps maximize CSP's return on investment by boosting QoE to increase revenue and using network resources efficiently to reduce costs.
  • Orange NFV Orchestration vIMS Proof of Concept with HP and Nokia: By using the HP NFV Director orchestration tool integrated with Nokia Cloud Application Manager, we've demonstrated Nokia vIMS network service configuration and automated deployment in the cloud. This is the first piece of a more complete proof-of-concept being set-up in Orange labs in conjunction with HP and Nokia.
