Futurecom 2014 #2: Launch time


This is the second of the series of blog entries on HP’s OpenNFV team experience at Sao Paulo’s Futurecom 2014, gathered by Ignacio García-Carrillo, Business Development Manager for NFV in the Americas.


Today, Tuesday the 14th, I forgot to take a picture of HP’s booth but I promise I will take one tomorrow, with our VP of HP OpenNFV Sales, Werner Schaefer, in front.

This omission gives you an idea of the pace of the event, in which we had the opportunity to start today with some NFV menu by the hand of our Communications and Media Solutions (HP CMS) colleagues. The leader for the Americas, Larry Marson, introduced our audience to CMS’ value proposition, and presented NFV as the key issue for the next few years in the Telco sector.


After that Werner, Ignacio and the extended sales, alliance and BU teams had different discussions with partners like ALU, RAD, Newnet or Genband, where we had the chance to share insights into the NFV situation in Latin America and strengthen the ties between companies. Partner program, Lab program, some initial opportunities and customer interest are all you need to have interesting discussions. And speaking of customers, we had the chance to meet TIM and Telefonica/VIVO and gauge the intensity of their focus on NFV, which only confirms the good decision HP took to invest heavily in NFV.


After this we could not resist the temptation to have a walk around the other companies’ booths to confirm our impression that NFV is the single most commented network concept this year at Futurecom2014, and though we might be slightly biased, after what we saw we believe NFV is the issue for this year on the Telco side.
