HPE named a Leader by Gartner in Magic Quadrant for Operations Support Systems

I am thrilled to share that Hewlett Packard Enterprise is named a leader in the Magic Quadrant(1) for Operations Support Systems(2) (OSS). Gartner has recognized HPE in this Magic Quadrant again and now in their most recent February 2018 report HPE is named a Leader. hpe-a-leader-magic-quadrant-oss.jpg

At HPE, we think being named a leader in the OSS Magic Quadrant is a further step in an even greater story. โ€œI am delighted by Gartnerโ€™s recognition of us as a leader in the OSS market, as well as our ability to execute and completeness of vision. We have to automate an increasingly dynamic world.โ€ said Domenico Convertino, Head of OSS solutions at HPE. โ€œWe feel it is yet another proof point of the relevance of our vision: operate and orchestrate services in hybrid and virtualized environments, leveraging intent-based modeling and artificial intelligence, to accelerate time to market and enable zero touch operations.โ€

According to Gartner, Leading vendors in this Magic Quadrant cover both the traditional OSS and the new OSS orchestration architectures in the form of SDN/NFV orchestration solution capabilities.โ€ Gartner defines the Leaders in this Magic Quadrant as follows: โ€œLeaders in this market have strong market presence and significant market share, most of them globally. All leading vendors portrayed in this Magic Quadrant have a comprehensive OSS offering and would still be Leaders, even if they needed partners:

ยท       They offer comprehensive, preintegrated, modularized OSS suites.

ยท       They have ventured into adjacent markets, such as BSS, service delivery platform (SDP), CRM and analytics.

ยท       They have support both for existing legacy OSS modernization initiatives and to enable CSPs' transition toward new OSS orchestration solutions that support hybrid physical and virtual network technologies. This support is critical to enable prevailing transformation initiatives from a traditional CSP to a digital service provider.

Leaders are well-positioned with their current product and service portfolios and their strategies. They have a coherent vision that anticipates current and future requirements. Leaders may not offer the best solution for every type of CSP, depending on their business models and maturity. However, they have proven implementation viability, and they can achieve and sustain high-quality, best-of breed and low-risk deployments.โ€ (1)

We believe HPEโ€™s positioning as a Leader is the recognition by Gartner of the relevance of our OSS strategy and innovation, which has helped us dramatically increase our traction in the OSS market in 2017 and showed evidence of HPEโ€™s ability to support CSPs' digital transformation.

To support this digital transformation, HPE offers a broad portfolio of OSS solutions. First, HPEโ€™s service orchestration offering, made of HPE Service Director for E2E service orchestration and HPE NFV Director for NFV MANO, is conveyed to the market together with both service assurance and service fulfillment capabilities. HPE Service Director relies on the concept of intent-based service modelling, which is a strong differentiator for HPE in the OSS market. HPE considers this approach as the best to minimize the OSS system integration cost, the OSS TCO and to dramatically improve time to market for CSPsโ€™ services.

In addition, the HPE OSS Assurance and Correlation portfolio, which relies mostly on the HPE vTeMIP suite, provides a unique cloudified OSS solution, which is another recent demonstration of HPEโ€™s ability to deliver innovation. In a nutshell, HPE vTeMIP leverages a micro service design and a single-pane-of-glass management console. With its virtualized architecture, HPE vTeMIP allows CSPs to support the introduction of NFV, SDN and digital services, and it can be orchestrated by a NFV MANO orchestrator, such as HPE NFV Director.

Last but not least, we believe that our DevOps based services align very well with Gartnerโ€™s recommendation that CSPs looking for an OSS provider should โ€œprovide leadership capabilities to facilitate CSPs' transition to new operating models, agile processes and DevOps. This transition also requires soft skills related to cultural change management, organizational transformation and new people skill sets.โ€ (1)

(2) As defined by Gartner, the market for OSS comprises Communications Service Providers (CSPs) looking to source commercial off-the-shelf software packages and support services to address back-office processes. These processes are necessary for the creation, delivery, fulfillment and assurance of services, regardless of product/service, delivery network technology and channel, and customer type.
