HPE showcases key innovative automation solutions for 5G at Digital Transformation World 2019

On May 14th, the HPE team will be heading to Digital Transformation World in Nice, France. I’d like to give you a preview of four exciting demos that we’ll be presenting there. These demos showcase innovations that are key milestones in our automation and monetization strategy – two key areas designed to help you on your transformation to becoming a digital service provider.

As explained by Domenico Convertino, leader of HPE’s Operations Support Systems/Business Support Systems (OSS/BSS) organization, “Communication service providers (CSPs) have a unique opportunity to embark on a successful journey to become digital service providers. However, they must become more agile, bringing new digital services to the market in just a matter of weeks, not months. They must also be able to operate those new networks and services, in a cloud-ified and hybrid environment, with unprecedented levels of dynamicity, complexity and volume. In order to succeed, CSPs must focus on a key objective: put in place an aggressive automation roadmap, ultimately aiming at Zero Touch operations. At HPE, our focus is to help CSPs get there, leveraging recent innovations such as intent-based service orchestration and machine learning-based intelligent service assurance”.

Service Orchestration for 5G and digital services

Our first demo showcases how service providers can monetize 5G with new on-demand services by fully automating slicing orchestration across multi-domain, multivendor 5G infrastructures, featuring HPE Service Director and Edgegap Arbitrium. In this demo, HPE Service Director leverages a simple, agile, intent-based orchestration approach that automates the deployment of a 5G gaming service as a specific slice across 5G’s edge and core infrastructure. Edgegap Arbitrium boosts the gaming experience for players by selecting the optimal location for gaming servers, on demand. This combination of intent-based service orchestration, with an edge controller for gaming, is innovative in the way that it demonstrates how CSPs can deploy on-demand services with different classes of services, based on slicing.

UPDATE: I'm excited to share that this demo has been selected to be part of the 5G Innovation Trail at DTW 2019.

Machine learning (ML) -based intelligent service assurance

Networks generate tens of thousands of alarms; finding alarm patterns helps identify unknown problems that can lead to network outages. This demo showcases how HPE Intelligent Assurance combines ML-based intelligence with rules-based remediation to predict problems in networks and services, and proactively resolve those issues, 24/7.  We show specifically how HPE Intelligent Assurance enables operations to generate predictive alarms that will trigger automated preventive actions.

Engineers used to search manually for patterns related to problematic situations. This process was both time-consuming and ineffective. With HPE Intelligent Assurance, pattern discovery is automatically triggered to prevent any negative impact, thanks to machine learning.  The solution supports data lakes based on Hadoop, accelerating return on investment for customers who have already created their own OSS data lake. Additionally, HPE Intelligent Assurance is an out-of-the-box solution, negating the need for CSPs to have ML/AI experts on staff.

Machine learning-based upsell intelligence

CSPs own a lot of information about their millions of subscribers. This is a fantastic asset but in order to differentiate from competition and increase both revenue and margin, they must leverage the data. A key use case for CSPs is to best determine what end customers are likely to buy next. This demo showcases our intelligent customer monetization solution, HPE Next Best Offer Analysis (NBOA), using Machine Learning to predict CSPs’ customers’ propensity to buy new service offers.

Cloud-ready service assurance automation

This demo showcases a comprehensive service assurance automation scenario, end to end. It focuses on HPE vTeMIP and its correlation and automation engine, HPE UCA, and how both work together in a fully integrated way with the new data-driven service assurance solution, HPE Intelligence Assurance. You’ll also be able to see how HPE vTeMIP, with its virtualized, micro-service based architecture, can be orchestrated by a Network functions virtualization management and network orchestration (NFV MANO) orchestrator, namely HPE NFV Director.

Please join us at Digital Transformation World 2019!

We look forward to welcoming you at the HPE Booth #326 Agora - 3 Expo hall | Tuesday May 14 - Thursday May 16.
