The rapidly evolving Network Functions Virtualization space seems to be changing daily.  The leading industry publications are doing a great job of helping the market understand what it means to virtualize networks and functions.   • HPE Bridges Physical, Virtual Networks: Mitch Wagner, West Coast Bureau Chief, Light Reading notes that “Hewlett Packard Enterprise is rolling out software designed to close the management gap separating physical and virtual networks.” Read more on Light Reading.



  • HPE scoops two telco client wins for cloud service projects: Business Cloud News shares that Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has recently announced partnerships with Swisscom and Telecom Italia subsidiary Telecom Personal. Read more at Business Cloud News
  • What Can We Draw from recent Service Director Announcement? Tom Nolle discusses release of HPE‘s Service Director and its high-level modeling capabilities and orchestration.“For the first time, HPE is emphasizing the strength of its service modeling and the features available.“ Read more at Cimi Corporation



  • ETSI ISG NFV touts collaboration progress from workshop: The European Telecommunications Standards Institute conducts workshop to align cloud and network-centric initiatives in Louisville, Colorado. ETSI notes that “key standards organizations and open source communities” attended to work on alignment of the NFV activities and resulted in a collaboration plan. Read the full article.
  • ONF Updates Atrium Open SDN Software: Open Networking Foundation released an update of Atrium, an open SDN software, by extending to the OpenDaylight platform to the Atrium router, adding experimental support for the Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) and the new feature called Leaf-Spine Fabric.   • OPNFV Project for Network Functions Virtualization Is 'Lab Ready' in Second Release: David Ramel editor and writer for 1105 Media discusses OPNFV new platform release "Brahmaputra demonstrates the ability to collaborate with upstream communities on feature development, address multiple technology components across the ecosystem and advance stability, performance, automation and hardened features."   • OpenStack reports big uptick in telco interest as it readies OpenStack for NFV: Ian Scales dives into OpenStack’s plans for NFV to be ready in 2016. Open Stack released the report Accelerating NFV Delivery with OpenStack that clarifies that telecoms are a key area for its activities. Read more on TelecomTV.
