NewNet Communications Technologies Verifies NFV Performance on HPE OpenNFV Platform

NewNet Mobile Communications Krypton RCS, Mercury MMS and Lithium SMS platforms provide a wide range of communication services for mobile operators around the world. The flexibility and efficiency that can be derived through the use of NFV is a benefit that our solutions provide. Our goal in testing with HPE’s OpenNFV platform was to verify our NFV performance across multiple NewNet products, while taking advantage of robust testing resources that will serve as a baseline comparison for all vendors.

NewNet tested a wide range of voice, video and messaging with our 3 primary platforms. With our Krypton RCS platform we tested video calls and video share while on a call. Voice calls and file transfers were also tested.   Additional features such as geo location were evaluated when we shared location data with another phone. All of these efforts delivered performance within the HPE OpenNFV testing environment that would result in an excellent user experience for a network operator’s subscribers.

MMS and SMS services were also tested when NewNet’s Mercury and Lithium platforms were configured within HPE’s OpenNFV testing environment. The OpenNFV testing environment made it easy to rapidly switch between products and conduct testing for voice, video and data.

NewNet’s Krypton platform efficiently allows operators to deploy new services such as VoWiFi and video services with WebRTC. Initial deployments can be accomplished on (2) single VNF’s. Deployment flexibility is also enhanced by Krypton’s notable feature of not requiring an IMS to enable new value-added services. Our testing with HP’s facilities confirmed NFV performance for Krypton as well as our Mercury and Lithium products, which adds confidence for our customers when they are considering new deployments or to scale for a growing base of subscribers.
