OpenDayLight Summit - What can vendors expect?

Author: Anshu Agarwal, Head of Solutions and Partner Development at HPE

As a regular attendee of OpenDayLight Summit, I have seen the community growing every passing year, with increased participation of developers and end users, from mini summit back in 2013 to a full blown OpenDaylight Summit in 2015. I am continually inspired and impressed at the communities’ commitment to growth.

In 2014, OpenDaylight (ODL) was just getting started on its visionary journey. The project had just announced its first release of Hydrogen and the attendees were mostly developers who had a keen interest in advancing the cause that ODL was proposing.  It was interesting to see competing vendors working collaboratively towards a mission of 1+1 equals 3. By 2015, with increased participation of both end users and developers, the community got more evolved into discussions of commercial use cases of ODL. Vendors leveraged this opportunity to roll out their ODL distribution and commercial ODL-based products. The large vendor and carrier population which supports ODL, is a clear indication that it is the preferred SDN open source standard.

Looking at the participation and attendee statistics from the last couple of years, this year I am expecting attendees to engage in more use case focused discussions. With the maturity of the ODL developer base, and higher end user: developer ratio, attendees will have a greater interest in carrier-grade capabilities - Scalability, Stability, and Security. I am expecting vendors to leverage this opportunity and use this platform to get feedback from the end-users on what competencies and functionalities they need in coming years for their network transformation and large-scale deployments.

I invite you to join us at ODL Summit 2016 at HPE booth S03.  We also may have a few seats left for the invitation-only ODL Roundtable Breakfast: Overcoming Complexity on September 28th 2016 at 7:30 AM

Looking forward to seeing you all there.
