HPE CSB IoT teamed up with highly experienced and skilled motorbike riders on what is being called a Trans-Siberian Odyssey. This trek was a 12,000-kilometer tour spanning 6 countries north of China including Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Russia. This tour started with the famous Pamir Highway and covered the popular "Road of Bones". This is one of the toughest ‘motorable’ roads in the world (Grade 5 Terrain - comparable or even harsher than the Dakar), and only a handful of motorcycle riders globally have completed this... and, none of them have been/were from India. This makes the Trans-Siberian crew the first Indian team who traversed these roads. The route provides amazing landscapes and vistas along the way with dense forests and treacherous roads. The team documented their adventure extensively through both still and video cameras. Learn more about the Trans-Siberian Odyssey in this short video.

HPE was the Technology Partner on this odyssey, and provided an IoT solution that enabled the riders to have visibility of the condition and performance of their bikes on their mobile devices (including diagnostics and prognostics data visibility), as well as track bike locations. HPE is one of the first to provide an IoT solution that enables this level of Bike Telematics visibility. This technology opens-up business opportunities in Asia Pacific for two wheeler OEM companies, insurance companies, telcos and more.

Deepak KamathDeepak Kamath

Team Leader – Deepak Kamath is one of the influencers in the Biking industry. He is an avid motorcycle adventure tourer and a world record holder being the first person to circumnavigate the world way back in 1994 (on a Yezdi Roadking)! He covered all 6 continents, 17 countries, 42,038kms in 47 days. More recently, he has toured around lesser traversed areas of India, including Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Bhutan, and Nepal, clocking over 39,000Kms in just over 15 months on his new bike. All this touring and the love for two-wheels has put him on multiple platforms including MTM, xBhp, India Speed Week, various bike ownership city chapters and college talks across India. Importantly, all of this has built a significant following of passionate bikers and riders on social media - Facebook (profile link), Instagram (deekam.99) and Twitter (@deekam99).

The team successfully accomplished what they set out to achieve. The HPE devices mounted on the bikes performed effectively, collecting data and creating analytical statistics of many parameters, including the team's location tracking. Riding the power cruisers, Bajaj Dominar's on roads that many motorcycle adventurists dread to tread, Deepak and his team have been very successful in leaving a footprint so strong that the entire adventure community will be proud of!
