Virtual desktop infrastructure is white-hot – for many businesses it has become the go-to technology for remote work and the new digital workplace, as Peter Mansell put it in a recent post1. Put that together with another powerful market trend – the swing towards pay-as-you-go, as-a-service IT – and you’ve got a blueprint for a solution that could be a real game-changer for companies struggling to build a more dynamic, resilient workplace in these times of challenging market conditions and tight budgets.

That’s exactly what HPE and Wipro have done with the announcement today of Wipro virtuadeskTM VDI as a service delivered with HPE GreenLake. HPE’s partnership with the global IT, consulting and business process services company goes back decades. The duo have successfully delivered workplace transformation and data center modernization solutions to customers from various industry verticals across the globe. Today’s announcement further extends this collaboration, with Wipro now leveraging HPE GreenLake cloud services across its managed services portfolio to bring its customers a “subscription-based, agile, elastic” cloud experience.

It was the VDI offering that really caught my eye though, and I like how Keith White, SVP and GM of HPE GreenLake cloud services, introduced it: “In this new normal brought on by COVID-19, customers have been turning to HPE more and more for our broad portfolio of secure VDI infrastructure solutions to match their specific use cases or workloads. We look forward to continuing to roll out our joint solution with Wipro and enabling customers to benefit from the agility and flexibility of HPE GreenLake while also offering the security and control of an on-premises deployment.”

As organizations embrace WFH for the foreseeable future, there is a need to create secure-by-design digital workplaces for remote working environments. It’s interesting to see how Wipro brings a robust, AI- and automation-powered VDI solution with its IP – Wipro virtuadeskTM – keeping user experience at its core while also focusing on enterprise security and resilience. This enables our customers and their employees to connect, collaborate and communicate with ease from anywhere and from any device.

The joint solution speeds application access and provides centralized IT management for customized disaster recovery plans. When wrapped with HPE GreenLake, it delivers a true hybrid cloud experience on-premises to customers, helping them meet their most unexpected challenges and demands. As more and more enterprises adopt the hybrid model, HPE and Wipro aim to provide them with cloud-like economics and better control so they can ensure business continuity while being able to flex costs and scale seamlessly.

The joint offering has already been successfully deployed in the banking, financial services, healthcare and insurance industries, providing customers with an exceptional user experience, greater operational efficiencies, and significant productivity improvements.
