wpad.dat

Filter 5874: HTTP: .dat File Request is triggered every time someone on my network uses a browser because of the use of wpad.dat in our environment.  Does it make sense to disable this filter or should I write a custom rule that loks for all .dat files other than wpad.dat?  I would assume that someone has already run into this issue so I would appreciate knwoing how you dealt with it.

Thank you!

Re: wpad.dat

That filter is probably best utilized on your internet to internal path segments only and not on internal to internal segments.

If you need to have it enabled on internal to internal traffic then add exceptions on filter 5874 for the server IP's that are hosting the wpad.dat files.

The assumption being that those servers are trusted.
