Is your network at the breaking point? HP can help you move forward

on ‎07-18-2014 02:23 PM

The stresses generated by mobility and BYOD, big data, and cloud are bringing many enterprise networks to the breaking point. Simply throwing more bandwidth at the challenges is no longer enough, according to a Gartner research note: “Traditional network design practices focusing primarily on location and bandwidth no longer address current IT service delivery models. … Changing application environments, user expectations and network services demand that network architects expand their thinking to ensure that the network supports new and changing business requirements.” (You can find Gartner’s analysis and recommendations in this HP Technology Services Newsletter, pages 4 – 6.)

Until recently, network innovation hasn't kept up with the pace of change, or been able to deliver the kind of gains that we’ve seen in compute and storage. But that’s changed in the past couple of years. Yanick Pouffary, Distinguished Technologist and Chief Technologist of HP Network Services, was at HP Discover last month explaining how new technologies provide a clear path forward to what the enterprise needs: a network that’s software-defined, agile, on-demand and business-aligned. Check out Yanick’s interview with Andy McCaskey of SDR News to learn about the new network and how to get there.

For Yanick’s thoughts on two breakthrough technologies – Software-defined Networking and Network Functions Virtualization – see the slides from her Discover session:

IMPORTANT UPDATE 9.28.14: If you’re attending the Gartner Symposium ITxpo 2014, don’t miss Yanick Pouffary’s session on Mobilizing Business (the Symposium is currently sold out, but Gartner is running a wait list here.) Yanick will be explaining how businesses can change BYOD from a nuisance into a competitive advantage – more here. Plus, get a guided tour of our Mobility Transformation Experience Workshop (on Oct. 8) and visit our Zero-to-Productive demo in the HP booth at the show. #GartnerSym
