Ready to say goodbye to Windows Server 2003? Make sure your users are too, with training from HP

Microsoft has announced the end of support for Windows Server 2003 in July 2015. For many vendors (including some of our competitors) this seemed like just a new server sales opportunity. But what our hardware-centric friends fail to realize is that, at many businesses, this end of support was anticipated, and for the most part already planned. A 2003 server migration could be just one element in a larger re-engineering project which may include getting rid of servers altogether and moving IT infrastructure to the cloud.


What’s more, IT organizations will need to think far beyond the infrastructure. The key to any successful transformational project is the end users. If they aren’t happy they aren’t productive, and support costs go through the roof (or worse). To begin with, most of these users are barely using the capabilities of their current software, and to be told that Windows Server 2003 must be replaced because it is no longer supported probably won’t matter to them, at all. NEWSFLASH: NEW SERVERS DON’T IMPRESS BUSINESS USERS.

Getting the necessary training related to migration from Windows Server 2003 is not an option – it’s a necessity (if for no other reason than to reduce support costs). Companies that specialize only in training have their place, especially if a class can be easily replicated, but it makes more sense to trust a partner that has the experience of dealing with similar migrations itself.
