Should we use granularity hints for shared memory?

Our box is GS1280 and there is only one Oracle database (one instance) running on it. Should we use granularity hints (GH) for shared memory?

How does it benefit us?

Hi Eric,

Please check the AP designed (ipcs -mb) and used the default ssm_threshold (=8MB)setting if AP had used the shared page tables in all of DB definition.

Because the Oracle DB will starting while system boot ready, so it should be allocated a contiguous aligned physical pages. And I suggested to disable the GH on GS1280 except Oracle/DBA strongly recommended.

Best regards,

Richard.
