Help, how to bootup from xp1024 with wwidmgr -set ?

Hello,

storage: xp1024 * 1

hosts: GS160 * 2,(2 HBAs per host)

OS version:Tru64 5.1B

Firmware version: 7.3

patch version: PK6

I've installed OS on one gs160,when I using "hwmgr -v d " ,I can view all disks presented by XP1024.

But in SRM P00>>>,I can't show any wwid about XP1024 disks. After redo init to P00>>>,type P00>>>wwidmgr -show wwid ,I got output nothing! Why??

Now I need to boot up from SAN disk presented from XP1024,in purpose of creating cluster on them.

Another question is about WWN:

Using "sh dev" ,SRM show the pga and pgb's wwn like these:

P00>>>sh dev
pga0.0.0.6.1 PGA0 WWN 1000-0000-c948-7ff0
pgb0.0.0.1.10 PGB0 WWN 1000-0000-c948-7fc5

but HBA wwn turn to different in below:

P00>>>wwidmgr -sh wwid
P00>>>
P00>>>
P00>>>wwidmgr -sh ada
item adapter WWN Cur. Topo Next Topo
[ 0] pga0.0.0.6.1 2000-0000-c948-7ff0 FABRIC FABRIC
[ 1] pgb0.0.0.1.10 2000-0000-c948-7fc5 FABRIC FABRIC
[9999] All of the above.
P00>>>
P00>>>
P00>>>wwidmgr -sh port
[0] 1000-0000-c948-7ff0
[1] 21fc-0005-1e36-28fe
[2] 5006-0e80-03aa-dc00
[3] 1000-0000-c948-7fc5
[4] 21fc-0005-1e36-2872
[5] 5006-0e80-03aa-dc10
P00>>>

Pls help me ,thanks!

Detail console log is in attachment.

Re: Help, how to bootup from xp1024 with wwidmgr -set ?

Hi,

Has this ever worked or is it a new installation ?

There were some changes to wwidmgr in the AlphaServer 7.3 firmware...

Is there anything currently in the wwid* variables ?

P00>> show wwid*

You might want to clear everything from wwidmgr and start again.

P00>> wwidmgr -clear all
P00>> init

Then see what you get ...

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Rob

This server is running Tru64 5.1A with XP1024 for 3 years .Now we want to update OS to 5.1B ,all new installation.

I have done "P00>>>wwidmgr -clear all",but I can't see any new wwids after init.

Another GS160 including FW6.9,but it could not get any wwids either.

Incredible!

The solution is set XP system mode params.
