LAG for cluster interconnect?

Hi

According to the V5.1B documentation, link aggregation cannot be used for the cluster interconnect (cannot form part of a NetRAIN set).

My customer wants to know if there might be any plans to add this feature. I have not seen anything that would suggest this, but perhaps on of you may know.

Hope you can help.

Re: LAG for cluster interconnect?

The alternate cluster interconnect can be part of a NetRAIN set. It can NOT currently be part of a LAG (Link Aggregation Group a.k.a trunking).

There is no public plan to allow trunking on the alternate cluster interconnect.

Re: LAG for cluster interconnect?

Christoph,

5.1B-3 will be the last incarnation of Tru64 as taken from the Roadmap. So it seems not very likely there will be new enhancements in this direction.

So why need your customer LAG support? For performance or redundancy reasons? If so is a dual memorychannel via fibre not suitable?

Re: LAG for cluster interconnect?

Thanks for your comments.

My customer would like LAG for both performance and redundancy. Yes, MC is also an option, but they would ideally like to use the equipment they have available.

Re: LAG for cluster interconnect?

redundant gigabit adapters (with netrain) are also a possiblity.

Fast ethernet may be not fast enough depending on the application used.
