ask oracle if it is supported, but the documentation will tell you the answer if ase without memorychannel will work.

Yes, you can form a V4.0F ASE cluster without memory channel, you need a dedicated
network connection between both members.

The license is also different, for ASE clustering you need the ASE-OA license, for mem-channel clustering you use the TCR-UA license.

Non-OPS Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition V8.1.7.0.0 instance will work with ASE-disk services. Be sure to use the appropriate Oracle supplied failover ASE-scripts.
