icssvr processes

We have a 5 member cluster running Tru64 V5.1B. There are a lot of icssvr_.... processes on these systems, ranging from 9 one one to 105 on others. Can somebody tell me what these are or tell me where I can find more or detailed information on this, that will satisfy my client that these are normal and DOES NOT impact any performance or production. I have exhausted all my resources on trying to find a description of this process and what it does. Any help will be appreciated.

Re: icssvr processes

ICS stands for Internode Communication Subsystem. These kernel processes that you've mentioned are used by the server node to process the RPC requests that come from various client node members. The request could be triggered by any of the cluster subsystems.

In simple words, these are essential processes. The customer need not worry about them.

If you require more technical info, refer to http://ci-linux.sourceforge.net/ics.shtml#3.7 (Linux ICS)
