/usr/sbin/smsd not running

hi,

we have 2 servers clustered via trucluster and recently while checking log /cluster/admin/clu_check_log_, i noticed that there's an error that says :
'/usr/sbin/smsd is NOT_RUNNING !!!!!ATTENTION!!!!!'

is this a critical error?

how do i get smsd to run? and what's smsd?

sorry i'm not very familiar with trucluster :(

thanks !

Re: /usr/sbin/smsd not running

smsd is a daemon that collect info from the system that would be used by the 'sms' (System Management Station) GUI application. If you do not use 'sms', don't worry about this message.

Re: /usr/sbin/smsd not running

smsd is system management daemon responsible for gathering system management data from the host and presenting that information to the SysMan Station (SMS)client. If you are not using sms for monitoring the system, then you can ignore this message.

You can restart smsd by executing:
# /sbin/init.d/smsd start

Re: /usr/sbin/smsd not running

If this cluster's smsd still fails to start, then do:
rm -r /var/cluster/sms/*

This to remove any corrupt left-overs, from previous runs. The sysman software will recreate the directories and files when needed.
