Re: why my alias ip seems to float?

Did you do caa_relocate -f of your resource and part of script that stops cluster alias did not completed?
So cluster alias is started on both nodes.
I had such a case once.
Manualy stop cluster alias on node that you do not want to participate.
If you need more details, say.

Re: why my alias ip seems to float?

This is normal, you must mudify your cluster alias configuration. Edit the /etc/clu_alias.conf file and change the selp value for the primary node to a higher value.

For example:

Node 1:
/usr/sbin/cluamgr -a selw=3,selp=10,join,alias=DEFAULTALIAS

Node 2:
/usr/sbin/cluamgr -a selw=3,selp=2,join,alias=DEFAULTALIAS

Then, manually run the /usr/sbin/cluamgr -a selw=3,selp=10,join,alias=DEFAULTALIAS on the first node.
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Re: why my alias ip seems to float?

Or better yet, issue the 'cluamgr' commands that Ivan mentions in your CAA script for the Oracle service. That way whichever node is running the database will service all the network requests.

We do a:

/usr/sbin/cluamgr -a alias=DEFAULTALIAS,selp=10,rpri=10

in the 'start' section of the script and a

/usr/sbin/cluamgr -a alias=DEFAULTALIAS,selp=1,rpri=1

in the 'stop' section of the script.

Re: why my alias ip seems to float?

Can you post your cluster caa scripts for ORACLE9204 and TUXEDO8.1?

Re: why my alias ip seems to float?

I would NOT use default cluster alias for single-instance services, expecially Oracle.
It is much better to create new one.
