HyperV Backups

I've been backing up my VMware VMs fine, and finally started my first backups on my HyperV servers (Needed more disk space) However, I noticed when I start a backup of a HyperV VM, there's a brief period where it appears the VM is suspended and restarted? The uptime on HyperV manager for the VM  is also reset to 00:00:00. Is the VM actually going offline and unavailable? This is of course important to know and very critical (If it is indeed going offline), as I don't see that same thing happening with my ESXI VMs. Those continue run with a real-time snapshot made. I have VSS turned on for the backup as well.

Hello,

the fact that Hyper-V manager shows a reset of the uptime after a VSS snapshot is caused by the design of Hyper-V.

During the VSS snapshot, the VM will continue to work, but not be able to provide it´s full performance to the users.

I do not expect that a VM totally goes offline during a VSS snapshot or is even rebooted.
Please check the OS uptime after backup using the following method:

Please let us know in case more info is needed.

Kind regards,
