[8888] 12/29/2015 10:47:34 AM [ERROR]  [1202799] File transfer error. The requested operation could not be completed due to a file system limitation

Cause

The error is raised while VM Explorer is trying to copy the VM backup files to your local machine.

The error is generated by the Windows OS.

The possible reasons for this error are:
  • The target volume is "highly fragmented"
  • The target is flagged for NTFS compression.

You can find further details about the problem in the Microsoft KB:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/967351

Fix

Assuming that volume "Z" is fragmented:
Use "Disk Defragmenter" to defrag the NTFS volume.

(Optimize Drivers: Right click on the disk ("Z") -> Properties -> Tools tab -> Optimize -> Select the disk and press optimize)

In case that a sub-folder or the volume is flagged to do NTFS compression, follow this instruction to unflag them:

Folder: Unflag the NTFS compression on the target folder

(Right click on the folder -> Properties -> Advanced -> unplug "Compress contents to save disk space" -> OK)

Volume: Unflag the NTFS compression on the target volume

(Right click on the volume -> Properties -> unplug "Compress this drive to save disk space" -> OK)

//Add this to "OnDomLoad" event
