HA with VMGuest
I plan to buy rx36600 servers as HPUX11iv3 VMHost and want to configure HPUX11iv3 VMGuest in such a way that oracleDB 11gr1 will run on them. The VMGuest should be able to failover to other VMHosts in case running VMHost hardware fails. But user connections should not be dropped. OracleDB should not be restarted, etc..there should be zero impact..
I guess Integrity VM allows this.
Can someone please tell me how it can be achieved. what softwares are needed. any docs to read ?
thanks in advance.

Re: HA with VMGuest
For high availability, you can instal serviceguard on HP-UX systems.
Based on the configuration, you can have application failover
* From one guest to another guest in the same VM Host system
* From one guest to another guest in another VM Host system
* From the guest on a VM Host system to a separate physical server or nPar
Refer the following link for more details -
* VMs as Serviceguard Nodes Configurations

Hope this helps.

Re: HA with VMGuest
I understand that , you need one virtual guest machine running on host should not fail and should transfer to other machine if there is a hardwareware failure and host machine goes down.
Currently this is not possible. You have an option to do online migration of guest machine to other host machine online ( both of the hardware ==> host OS must be running + the guest os)
I think the product which will suite for your requirement may be ORACLE SG RAC

Re: HA with VMGuest
In new HPVM version you can migrate the machine but still you condition is not full filled.
For you RAC seems to be the only option.
