IVM OS installation in BL 890c i2

Hello All,

I need to install OS in BL 890c i2 Blade server. Later i need to create 9 VM's and install OS in the same. Please let me know is there any way to reduce the task other than tape ignite backup. As i cannot connect tape to the blade server.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

There are two options.

1. Create an Ignite golden Image and install all the VMs from that.

2. Install one guest, then clone the boot disk for other 8 copies of LV/disk/file/Lun , what ever; boot each one and change host specific configuration like hostname, IP address etc.

Re: IVM OS installation in BL 890c i2

Install the 890

Create 1 VM and install it how you like
Create a ignite backup of the VM (ignite server could be the 890).

Create VM2 with lan cards and Disks
Boot it off the ignite server and retsore the image from Vm1 but changing IP

Repeat for all other VMs. VMs can be booted from a ignite server off the network.

You could copy the lun in the san or copy the file that is the boot disk of the first VM and assign it to the 2nd VM and so on.

That might be faster.
