VPAR on Superdome2 low performance with MSL6060 tape library

Hi,
We have just mount a brand new Superdome 2 with one Npar and 3 Vpars.
The old MSL6060 library, that was previously attached to an rp8400 working fine, now it has been attached (is a FC library, connected to a FC switch), to two of three vpar machines and its performance is too low, well, I can not use the library throw them because a 4 hours backup now lasts 12...
Any idea about what can happen?
The library FW is up to date.
Thanks in advance,

Re: VPAR on Superdome2 low performance with MSL6060 tape library

It could be a problem on tape, tape drive or connection (speed) - I would install LTT and do an assessment test.

Hope this helps!

A few thing it may be?

You went from a 4g fiber card to a 1gig? It seems unlikely because you said you went to a "new" Superdome. But I had to mention it anyway.

Perhaps compression is used via CPU instead of the the tape drive (assuming your using an LTO4 or higher that is)? Then again, new Superdome... CPU's are pretty fast, etc. so this may not be it either.

Perhaps your doing a network connected backup? Check your network settings?

Re: VPAR on Superdome2 low performance with MSL6060 tape library

Hi all,
I'm doing some checks but the problem is either with the FC backups (backing up an array attached to the same machine throw FC) or network backups..
The total data copied on the Medium grows from 8 to 8 Mb vey slowly...
I have a case opened with the Data Protector team, but any idea wold e apreciated.

Try LTT and pull a support ticket - see above.

Hope this helps!

Try:
kctune hires_timeout_enable=1
(see warning on PHKL_41700 - if you have the patch installed it could be the cause).

Verify patches PHKL_41700, PHKL_41419 and take them out
We had big performance issues on backups and also unload errors in Data Protector because of them.

Patches problem, as said in last reply.
