At this moment we have 2 hp-ux servers and they a clustered with SG. We want to be able to host virtual machines on each of those 2 servers. Would Vpar do the trick... ? Or i am looking at the wrong software..?
Let me give you a little more detail. server-1 has the package 95% of the time when we do maintenance on server-1 we have to change its hostname to server-3 and then rename server-2 to server-1 so that the application that it runs works fine. Otherwise it complains about the hostname not being the same. So as you can see this is a pain on the neck since we dont only have to change the hostnames, but all the IPs on all of the interfaces so that Service Guard doesnt complain.
So we want an image of our current server-1 to run virtually on 2 different servers, but not at once. This means that if phisical server-1 is running virtual server-1 phisical server-2 doesnt run it unless manually started.
Then we would just configure the package to have control of the vpar so that if host1 goes down the package is then controlled by host2
Is that possible...?
Thanks

Re: Virtualization
If the criteria is met, vpar will do the job.
You must have a boot device and network connection to build a vpar. 1 GB of RAM is also required, raise that depending on what you want vpar to do.
Configure a package to control vpar.
I don't think that is supported but it is an intriguing idea.

Re: Virtualization
Don't think you can run same hostname and IP address more than once unless you change the subnet.
