Re: Vpar build

If the hardware is supported, yes.

Consult the documentation!

Hope this helps!

Re: Vpar build

yes its possible...

but some questions... to

do you have currently running any os in npar0?
do you want to keep the same os in vpar mode ?
do you want to create more vpars in this npar ?
do you have enough i/o , cpu , mem to support this ??

better you go through this guide & decide your self ... because you know your environment & requirements

Re: Vpar build

it depends on npar0 ,whether all the resources are available to support a new vpar on the npar not not.

you have to check your resources and documentation of server for support of vpar.

Re: Vpar build

Hi Kavita,

for better suggetions, please let us know the server model.

Please go through below mentioned answers to your questions, so will it be a good thing to make just 1 vpar under it ???

Vpar is a product which designed for virtualization. It is used to have more than one HP_UX OS instanses running on an elctrically independent Hardware ( say NPar/standalone server)with out any OS dependency.

The conclusion is that, there is no point of keeping a single vPar in a production. For test purpose, yes, you can do anything.

do you have currently running any os in npar0? Yes ==> whcih OS? is that HP-UX ?

If yes, you can use the same OS disk for Vpar.

do you want to create more vpars in this npar ? No

I believe you want to create Vpar test system.

Re: Vpar build

Hi Sooraj,

Thanks a lot for your analysis but my point is that if we need to create a new vpar on a running npar then that npar has to be converted in vpar first so that we could have two vpars under that partition. Is not it ? Model is rx8640.

As per my understanding Yes, you are correct.

The OS running on the nPar can be "converted" to the first vPar.
