backup tools available on HP-UX on a VSE

I am exploring HPUX on vpars, i would like to know what are the data backup and recovery tools/commands available for HPUX and if the same tools can be used for HPUX in a virtual server environment. Also, provide some reference to documentation if any.

Re: backup tools available on HP-UX on a VSE

Hi,

When you say vpars, I believe you are referring to Virtual partitions in Superdomes or RP series servers. If that is the case, the backup and recovery process is same as other environment. I think the best recovery process for HP servers is Ignite-UX.
You can configure one server as a Ignite-UX server and regularly create an image of all clients and store in that server. Please note that this include only the data in vg00. If you need to backup other application stuff, you can consider othe backup tools suggested application vendor, for example RMAN for Oracle.

Hope this helps.

First port of call would be here:
http://docs.hp.com/en/vse

As far as backing up data, well that could be done in many ways, for example if using Oracle you could use Oracle tools etc. There are all the usual data backup tools that could be used, but if you are asking more after the OS being backed up and recovered, take a look at this document:
