1410-24G (J9561A) connected with 10G driect cable (J9281B)

We needed to get replacement switches ASAP and have a pair of J9561A's connected with a J9281B 10G direct attach cable. I know that the switches are not 10G capable.

My question is what data rate would the J9281B be using when connected to these switches?

It looks like SFP had a 4.25G data rate for things like Fibre Channel.

I am curious if the J9281B is providing any benefit currently over a Cat5e/Cat6 cable connecting the switches.

No benefit. The 10Gb DAC is an expensive cable that is better used elsewhere!

If it did work, it would still only run at 1Gb - that is all the port PHY is capable of.

I was hoping that it would use faster rates.

It definitely works, the cable will still be useful at expansion or replacement time as we are spec'ing out HP switches with  10G ports.

Thanks for the information.
