2952 & 2948 Odd outage only in mornings.
Hi Guys,
I am new to the HP switches and forums, I have a client who is using the follwiing on a Windows 2003 Domain.
1 x 3com Baseline 2952-SFP Plus ( this is new addtion since March)
1 x 3com Baseline 2948-SFP Plus this is older maybe around 2009
The odd issue that seems to be occuring of late and with some regularity is that every morning this past week it seems the older switch (2948) appears as offline around 8am and many client PC's cannot login on the network. By the time i connect and try and access the web GUI it is not showing me the web page nor does it ping but by the time i start diagnosing this issue with maybe 15mins the switch appears to start working again, without me really doing much at all Then all the clients are fine and the problem seems to not occur again until the following morning.
I have had a look at some of the internal syslog entries from the new switch (2952) and see a number of entries like below. Interestingly they all seem to be a short while before the 8am 'ish time frame.
Are these errors of some kind listed below or are these normal msg's appearing from its normal useage.?
Any advice would be much appreciated as I am starting to suspect either an issue between these two devices working together or worse a faulty new switch or a faulty older switch.

Re: 2952 & 2948 Odd outage only in mornings.
This has occured again this morning and i was on site this time to see it first hand.
Same issue, couldnt ping the switch, changed the cable conecting both switches and even changed ports on both and yet still no repsonse. Power cycled the switch and after about 5mins of up and down state, i managed to get a connection to the switch via web and only thing i could see that may have had any bearing was the time and date was showing default of 01.01.2007 and was not set. so i wondered if this could be casuing some problem here, so i set the time.date using NTP and i will know int he morning whether this had any positive effect.

Re: 2952 & 2948 Odd outage only in mornings.
Has anyone else seen this? I'm having the exact same issue. I turned off spanning tree and that eliminated the MSTP messages, but I'm still seeing brief (2 second) link down link up errors, usually only in the morning, across multiple HP v1910 switches. Any ideas?

Re: 2952 & 2948 Odd outage only in mornings.
Well, the only problem with connectivity on "3Com 2952 SFP Plus" / "HP 1910G" / "H3C S5120-SI" switches I had was when I connected two of them with their fiber ports. Then the ports went down from time to time.
The solution: I put in an unmanaged mini switch (1x SFP, 4x RJ45) and connected one HP with its RJ45 ports. Since then all those ~30 HP switchest have never had those issues.
Also, always install latest firmware: https://h10145.www1.hp.com/downloads/SoftwareReleases.aspx?ProductNumber=JE006A ... The problem above looks like spanning tree. Depending on your setup, there´s an relly old spanning tree issue for years: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/public/kb/docDisplay/?docId=c04034634 which hasn´t been resolved, yet.
