HP 1620-24G vs. 1810-24G v2 switch

Hi,

For my home network I want to replace my unmanaged switch for a managed model.

The first reason for me to upgrade is more ports and the ability for 802.3ad LACP for my Synology DS1813+ NAS.

I've decided to go with HP for the switch and I was just about to order a 1810-24G v2 when I noticed the newly released 1620-24G on HP's website.

This entry level switch offers all the functionalities I would need as well, so I'm having doubt about which one to choose?

What is the difference between these switches and will I benefit from this for home/small business use?

Also note the 1810 actually is cheaper than the 1620 in the Netherlands.

Thanks,

The main thing is to pick a fanless switch, so you don't have noise and heat problems.

If you're looking forward to owning a managed switch, you will be disappointed - these are called by HP, "smart-managed", which actually means, "hardly-manageable at all".

I think the 1810 is better than the 1620.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, the (smart)managed functions of both switches will be sufficient for my use at home.

What are exactly the difference between those two switches that makes you believe the 1810 is the better one?
