Switch - compatibility question 1420 2SFP
Hello everyone, actually I use 1810-24 switches with X111 SFP, 100 FX moduls (model J9054C)
Now I want to buy 1420-24 switches and I can't find any informations about compatibility with the X111 modul
Can someone tell me if 1420 switch and X111 modul are compatible ?
thank you !
Stephane

Re: Switch - compatibility question 1420 2SFP
If you are going to purchase HPE OfficeConnect 1420-24G 2SFP (JH017A) switches, the HPE 1420 Switch Series QuickSpecs reports (see here) only these SFP Transceivers:
- HPE X121 1G SFP LC SX Transceiver (J4858C)
- HPE X121 1G SFP LC LX Transceiver (J4859C)
- HPE X121 1G SFP RJ45 T Transceiver (J8177C)
- HPE X120 1G SFP RJ45 T Transceiver (JD089B)
- HPE X120 1G SFP LC SX Transceiver (JD118B)
- HPE X120 1G SFP LC LX Transceiver (JD119B)
as supported.
So, if your plan is to use the existing Fiber Optic uplink (is it a long - more than 550 meters - run?), the most proper supported Transceiver types should be HPE X121 1G SFP LC LX Transceiver (J4859C) or HPE X120 1G SFP LC LX Transceiver (JD119B).
Note the LX (that's for cable length up to 10 km).
If you have other requirements (a short run, let's say below 550 meters) maybe a SX (generally with a 850 nm central wavelenght) type should suffice.
Consider that both J4859C and JD119B have:
- Connector Type: LC
- Central Wavelength: 1310 nm
- Multi-Mode maximum distance: 550 meters
- Single-Mode maximum distance: 10000 meters (10 km)
So the SFP Transceiver selection boils down to what type (especially its length and its mode) of Fiber Optic uplink you have to reconnect to.
