Defragging Server 2003 R2 x64

I have an HP ML350G5. I tried to run defrag in safe mode, but it did not defrag. The drive was still mostly red after process. So, I rebooted into OS. Tried to run defrag again, but drive still would not defrag. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think it's a bit odd for defrag to not run without posting a message of some sort (perhaps in the Event Viewer).

Consider running CHKDSK (Error-checking) first.

Re: Defragging Server 2003 R2 x64

The final resolution was that I downloaded Diskeeper Server 2010 and used the 30 day free trial. This defragged both drives with several additional powerful features to help with drive health. Pretty cool stuff, and also I did run the 5 point checkdisk upon reboot. The drives are defragged and all is well. Thanks for your input. Problem Solved

Alan:

Just out of curiosity, does the MS defrag now work too?

Thanks

Roger,
The MS defrag works.
