How to enable Intel Virtualization Technology, to run vmware 64-bit guest operating systems on a HP DX7400?

Can not find the VT enable/disable in the BIOS?

Re: Enable Intel Virtualization Technology on HP DX7400

I'm not sure about 7400, on my 7700 it is under 'Security' - not very logical. I had quick look at 7500s BIOS guide, - there is nothing there about VT so it might be impossible to enable it, at least not with current BIOS version.

Why not VT enable/disable in BIOS ?

Re: Enable Intel Virtualization Technology on HP DX7400

Looks like the Intel V technology isn't available in the DX7400 series.

It's available in the DX7600 and up.

Intel has a good site listing the various processor models and which ones supply Intel VT and Disable Bit.

Here's a free tool that will show you what your system is capable of running (64bit, DEP, VT).

Re: Enable Intel Virtualization Technology on HP DX7400

Hi all.
I've updated BIOS in my HP dx7400 to last version 1.14. CPU in PC - Intel Core2 Quad Q6600. Intel Processor ID Utility shows me that my CPU support Intel Virtualization Technology. But I can't find option to enable Intel VT in BIOS.

Do you know any solution how-to enable Intel VT?

Re: Enable Intel Virtualization Technology on HP DX7400

Can't seem to find a way to enable VT on the dx7400 MT i have here either...

the CPU definitely supports it as seen on http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLAPL

If a fix is available id love to know about it!

Re: Enable Intel Virtualization Technology on HP DX7400

I have the same problem. Its annoying that Dell have most of their machines with VT capable cpus's able to select the option in the bios but HP purposely block us from being able to fo it. If you put a Cpu capable of doing VT and DEP then for petes sake give us a bios version that reflects the cpu features.
There are some really long workarounds to enable VT but really time consuming.

Surely there is utility to turn it on and off from HP?!!! Come on HP!

What's the long way to enable VT?

Only one way is to perform changes in BIOS, but how to do this? Is there any tutorial???

Re: Enable Intel Virtualization Technology on HP DX7400

There are tutorials for enabling VT on Sony Vaio where situation with BIOS was the same:

http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=619763

There has to be similar method, but it may be shown only by some Pro who knows HP well...(?)

Re: Enable Intel Virtualization Technology on HP DX7400

This is the one I found but looks like it applies to any. However looks like most has to be done in Linux.

Re: Enable Intel Virtualization Technology on HP DX7400

you are right, I am sure if you could find someone to talk to at HP that wasnt first level support we might be able to get a resolution.
I called HP yesterday and the guy was going to call me back with an answer, that was the last I heard and will probably hear. :)

Re: Enable Intel Virtualization Technology on HP DX7400

You guys are closer to resolution because of location I think. In Poland HP tech level is poor in general...

you would think that but our support is as poor as yours. I think someone in India answers the phone. They are hard to understand and only know the basics.

So we need somebody from US to investigate...
