Re: Showing less memory on OS windows2003

Hi, dudharkar,

The 64bit version of 2003 standard support 32GB of RAM, th 32bit supports 4GB. If you have this edition,, are you sure you installed the 64bit?

If you installed 2003enterprise (32bit) you have to add the PAE value.
This can be done in two ways, in registery:
- open startemnu go to run and type: regedi (klik OK)
- Go to: KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Session Manager/Memory Management.
- add a DWORD value called: hysicalAddressExtension (set the value on 1)
- reboot

The second way is to edit the boot.ini file, it is in the root of the C-drive.
Open it with notepad and search for the line that ends with fast /fastdetect (their may be other parameters behind it)
- after fastdetect type a space and then /PAE

You may also try the switch /3GB see if it inproves performance, note that there has to be a spece bestween the parameters.

Good luck,
Regards, Ronald

Does the bios reconice the full 8GB?

Have a nice day,
