HP XP P9500 VMWARE Host mode options for ESX5.5

Hello Specialists,

I am often confused with documents read about host mode option settings to be used for VMware ESX 5.5. When Some documents says best practice is to use both 54 and 63 others says 54 is only for esx4.x. I understand there is no harm if I enable both. However, need to understand both and wanted to know will it make any difference IF I did not use host mode option 54 for ESX 5.5.

Please help me understanding it.

As I received no reply on community, Had to depend on other mediums. this is the latest information I have on this topic.

Host Mode Option = ON The following are true:

• Standard ANSI Version of inquiry is set to "4".
• XCOPY command with T10 specification is enabled.
• RCR command is enabled.
• The Check response is returned at pool depletion (permanent or temporary).
• The Check response is returned at warning threshold exceedance.

Support Commentary

HMO 54 is an option to use VAAI when ESX4.1 is connected. In the case that HMO 54 and HMO 63are set to ON, the HMO 63 setting is prioritized.

So there is no issue in enabling both the modes but what we need is only mode 63 for esxi5 and above.
