Heterogeneous SAN XP / EMC / VMWARE
Hi,
I need to connect in the same SAN, one storage XP512, one CX300, 3 domain Solaris 9 SunFire20K, 2 Servers AMD Opteron with VMWARE VI3.
SunFire20K connect only XP512 LUN target, VMWARE connect XP512 and CX target.
Questions:
1) On servers AMD Opteron can i use the same HBA or it is need to install different HBA for CX and XP ?
2) Is it need to setup the hard zoning or WWN soft zoning is enough ?
3) Is there a supportability matrix available ?
Thanks, Bye

Re: Heterogeneous SAN XP / EMC / VMWARE
1) In order to get to an EMC and HP supported configuration you need dedicated HBAs. Ideally you choose two different brands of HBAs so you can have the drivers and FW levels each supplier requires.
2) you need to zone off each storage and HBA environment so that the EMC HBA only sees CX and the HP HBA only sees XP. It does not matter if soft or hard zoning.
3) see
