metaLUN on HP XP24000

Hi,

I have no experience with HP XP arrays.

I would like to know if it is possible to define a metaLUN consisting  of 10x100GB on XP24000 and provide it to ESX host as single 1TB resource. On EMC arrays it is called metaLUN. Does XP have an equivalent?

I will be grateful for the brief instructions how to do it on XP.

Kind Regards

Re: metaLUN on HP XP24000

I try to keep it simple.

On an XP array you create LUNs based on RAID groups (group of disks). Usually these are 4 or better 8 disks in RAID5 (7+1). Based on this RAID you create a LUN, so it is already on 8 disks. You can also spread the LUN across another 7+1 (or even more) to utilize more disks.

Based on these disks now you create a LUN in the size you want (or several small LUNs and concatinate them).

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
