Re: Moderator action needed

I just want to bring a problem downloading .zip attachments to the attention of the moderators.

For a complete picture, please see this thread here at the BSC:

And this corresponding thread at the ITRC (particularly Dennis' last 2 replies as of this time):

Re: Moderator action needed

Just had some weird behavior (bug) with the forums advanced search while looking for a thread posted by Chris H on the UPD, which I had posted a reply to a few months ago. I entered forums advanced search from a thread in the BSC by clicking the forums advanced search link at the top of the page.

At forums advanced search, I used the terms flanagan upd chris. I selected the checkboxes for both forums. I left everything else at defaults.

Search results were categorized as:
You searched for: flanagan upd chris
Total Results: 13
Retrieved From: ITRC Forums (3),Business Support Forums (10)

Examining the search the forums box at the bottom of the results, all entries were as I made them.

The problem:

I clicked on the posting date heading at the top of the results to sort the results by date.

All of the results from BSC disappeared. I then saw only 3 results, all from the ITRC:
You searched for: flanagan upd chris
Total Results: 3
Retrieved From: ITRC Forums (3)

The search the forums box at the bottom of the results now had the BSC forums box unchecked.

This is new behavior. Clicking the posting date heading in the past has always displayed the same number of results.

Re: Moderator action needed

Aarni - we can't completely remove or delete your account, but you do have an option to change your forums user ID so it doesn't contain your full real name.

If you're unsure about your HP Passport username, start here: https://passport2.hp.com/hpp/forgotusername.do (use your gmail email address).

Once you've done that, if you've also lost your password, you can use the form at https://passport2.hp.com/hpp/forgotpassword.do

Once you can access your forums profile, you can use the "edit" tab and change your forums username to something besides your real name.

Re: Moderator action needed

Pat - I've followed the same steps but haven't been able to duplicate your results - using either IE or Firefox.

Can you try it one more time and let me know if you receive the same results?

Re: Moderator action needed

Kevin,

Strange - it's working properly for me now too.

Just for the record when it first happened to me this morning, I tried it again and got the same results, but it is working properly now.

Thank you for your attention to it.

Re: Moderator action needed

Just reporting an apparent bug in the New HP Forum Discussions for Thu Mar 05 22:21:12 GMT 2009.

This thread:

http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?admit=109447627+1236363534913+28353475&threadId=1320252

is, I believe, in the correct category when I go to the thread. It's in

Business Support Forums > Printing and digital imaging > printers - designjet.

However, in the daily email, it's listed as the first post under the category

MOBILE PRODUCTS: CALCULATORS.

(Unless you folks already caught it and moved it earlier)

Thanks,
Pat

Recurring problem has recurred again (see here for a recent history):

I haven't received a Notifications email since the one for New HP Forum Discussions for Tue Mar 24 22:19:48 GMT 2009.

Hope we're not in for another long outage.

Re: Moderator action needed

Just reporting an annoyance due to a change in forum behavior approximately the first day or so of last week. I can live with it, but thought you should be aware of it.

Prior to last week, when I clicked the first link to a BSC post in the New HP Forum Discussions for... emails, I would be taken to a log in page for the BSC. I had my user name and password saved in XP, so I would simply have to enter the first letter of the user name, and the rest would fill in. After completing log in, I would be taken to the thread corresponding to the link I clicked. If I closed that web page after I replies, I would have to log in to the BSC again every time afterward when I again connected to the BSC. If I kept that thread open while following the links in the email, I did not have to log in again.

Beginning approximately the first of last week, the first time I clicked a link, I'm taken to a log in page for the BSC. Now my user name is saved, but I have to enter my password manually. Once I log in, I'm taken to the home page of the BSC Forum instead of the thread I clicked the link for. If I leave that page open, I can go back to the email, click the link for the thread again, and I'm taken to the thread. As before, if I close the web pages for the BSC home page and the thread, I have to log in each time (and am taken to the home page again), but if I leave one of those pages open, I can click on the other links in the email and be taken directly to the pertinent thread without having to log in again.

Uwe Zessin posted this same issue Apr 13, 2009 17:23:51 GMT, but posted it in the ITRC Forum's March/April 2009 Performance and availability issues thread. I've recommended he post here.

Re: Moderator action needed

Pat,

Thanks for your post - this is an issue we've been looking into since last week. There were some changes made with respect to the way the forums and HP Passport interact - IT is investigating and I hope I'll some news to pass along soon.

Sorry for inconvenience in the meantime!

Re: Moderator action needed

Please try to fix it quick! That is more than a simple 'inconvenience'.

Just a moment ago I had the same problem. OK, BACK,BACK and again. Nope, instead of the forums overview I now end up on www.hp.com/#.
I have to thread first.

Please, Please, Please, if something goes wrong - give a meaningful error message that we can pass to the maintainers. Do not fall back to silly actions like forwarding to hp.com or just claiming that some content is not there!

I see this on an increasing number of front-ends (customer advisories, smart portal, itrc) :-(

An attempt to reply to:
http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?admit=109447626+1240074678431+28353475&threadId=1332981

ends up on:
http://www.hp.com/country/undefined/en/welcome.html

That's enough.
I will not report any more errors as I will stop trying to help in the Business Support Forums. I already waste enough time with problems on other HP pages (IT Resource Center Forums, customer advisories, manuals, 'Smart' Portal, ...) - let me know when you think you have fixed your system or at least rolled back the damaged code.

Hello Saad,

Your new profile link: http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/publicProfile.do?userId=3117c4960eb14edad2633a57e3fe6fc7&forumId=2

3. Click on this link: http://tinyurl.com/ctso3t (reset the password)and enter your e-mail address of the old profile here and clink on 'next' button, then enter appropriate security answers click on 'continue' button and reset password for your old profile

Re: Moderator action needed

Hi Vajith ,

Thanks for you kind interest. I tried what you have posted but unfortunately, that did not work; it kept giving me the "new" User ID even after changing the email address of the "new" profile!

If you can, i'd email you all the details including IDs and passwords and try from your side. Is it possible??

Re: Moderator action needed

Thanks Saad for the update, before sending mail to me you could try the below steps:

1. Click on this link: http://tinyurl.com/d8tra6 (recover user ID) and enter your e-mail address of the old profile link here and click on 'next' button, then please note your user ID for the old profile.
2. Click on this link: http://tinyurl.com/ctso3t (reset the password) and enter your e-mail address of the old profile here and clink on 'Submit' button. Next page you can see a button 'Send me an e-mail button', click on that. You will get an e-mail for changing your password (Forgot HP Passport password). Please enter new password then re-enter the password and click on 'continue' button
3. It would take you to the next page. Enter required information there and click on 'Submit' button
4. Use the same login credentials in BSC forums.

BSC forums: http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/home.do?forumId=2

Hope this helps.
