HPE announces HPE GreenLake for Data Fabric, simplifying data analytics for the enterprise
Become an analytics competitor with a fully managed service that combines the industryโs first hybrid, analytics-ready data fabric with HPE GreenLake hardware, software, and services.
In 2003, the Oakland Athletics disrupted the game of baseball by building a team solely on analytics. For the next five years, they were in the playoffs beating teams with payrolls three to four times their own. Years later, Thomas H. Davenport wrote a Harvard Business Review article citing the Oakland Athletics in support of his thesis that โanalytics is key to any modern profitable and transparent business.โ Davenport went on to state that businesses need to move beyond a data value mindset to one where they use data to compete with analytics. And this statement is just as valid today as it was then.
Todayโs enterprise is faced with a series of challenges when it comes to analytics. Their data is distributed across multiple platforms, formats, and types. Data lakes and warehouses were once thought to be the solution to unify all this disparate dataโbut they only created more data silos.
Traditional analytic tools donโt help because some only support data lakes. Others no longer support on premises, and the edge is a roadmap conversation. This leaves data science teams with the arduous task of manually unifying and normalizing data from each silo. Customers tell us this can take months.
Competing with analytics requires a unified data source that is prepared and ready for processing to accelerate delivery of insights by data engineers.
At HPE Discover this week, HPE introduced HPE GreenLake for Data Fabric, a fully managed service that combines the industryโs first hybrid analytics-ready data fabric with HPE GreenLake hardware, software, and services. This service keeps IT in control with a single view to manage and monitor distributed data. The solution will be generally available by the end of 2022.
HPE GreenLake for Data Fabric is powered by HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric, which unifies files, objects, NoSQL databases, and real-time and batch streams across distributed locations. By unifying and preparing data for processing, data integrity increases because errors and duplicate files are removed.
The secret sauce for HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric is a global namespace that connects distributed data across the enterprise, greatly simplifying application and workload access. Just one entry into each application is required to simplify data access patterns and eliminate the need to manually provide unique access to unique systems.

Customers benefit from the following outcomes:
- Common data access
Simplify data sharing and collaboration with company-wide access to a single logical data store, allowing data to be reused by multi-modal data and multiple use cases. It also allows traditional BI and analytic apps to run alongside modern Spark-based applications all managed from a single user interface.
- Derive insights from all your data
Empower data engineers and scientists with trusted hybrid data, bring back real-time and batch data from the edge to train models, run queries on metadata or more complex queries to determine anomalies, such as financial fraud.
- Global policies and management
Streamline management of systems that range from 1-node to hundreds of nodes with built-in data management, security, geo-fencing, and high availability across globally distributed clusters and data.
- Partners make the solution stronger
HPE Ezmeral Ecosystem Pack provides tested versions of open source tools most popular with data science teams. The HPE GreenLake Marketplace provides access to certified partner tools,
such as NVIDIA, Pepperdata, and Cribl. HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric is optimized for both the ecosystem and marketplace, but it also works with any compute and application such as OpenShift, Tanzu, and Rancher.

- Predictable costs of distributed data
Avoid the capital expense of purchasing, maintaining, and updating your own infrastructure and building a data fabric. A fully managed, highly scalable service ensures transparent, predictable costs, reducing sticker shock associated with hyperscale vendors.
HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric is available standalone and wrapped within HPE GreenLake. With HPE GreenLake for Data Fabric, customers get a managed service that simplifies setup, configuration, and is waiting for you to get started Day 1.
