New edge innovations from HPE at Microsoft Ignite
Guest Blogger: Tripp Partain, Chief Technology Officer, Converged Servers, Edge and IoT Systems
HPE is excited to announce two new solutions featuring the Edgeline 8000 at Microsoft Ignite 2019. The Edgeline 8000 Converged Edge System (EL8000) is the newest entrant into the Edgeline family and features a rugged, compact form factor that makes it suitable for remote and harsh locations. It comes with one-click provisioning and remote systems management, enabling the ongoing management of EL8000 systems across thousands of distributed locations without on-site IT expertise. It's also based on open industry standards.
Azure Stack HCI on the Edgeline 8000
The first solution is certified Azure Stack HCI on the Edgeline 8000. With a focus on running virtual machines on-premise with easy connectivity to the Azure Cloud on a hyperconverged infrastructure, Azure Stack HCI looks to make it easy to link locally run applications with Azure cloud services. By having this solution certified on the HPE Edgeline EL8000 Converged Edge System, customers can now easily deploy and managed Azure Stack HCI in the most remote locations like factories, oil rigs, retail locations, warehouses, and all edges in between. This gives a level of enterprise standardization with modern cloud service availability that has never existed before.
Additionally, we are excited to announce that we will have full Azure Stack certified on the Edgeline 8000 by the end of the year. Certified Azure Stack on the EL8000 will be the most compact, edge enabled Azure Stack solution on the market that we believe will also be the most cost competitive from an infrastructure perspective. We already have a number of customers ready to pilot this new solution as the ability to seamlessly migrate workloads between the Azure Cloud and Azure Stack on-premise locations will no longer be limited to just data centers. Customers will now be able to deploy Azure based solutions to all of their locations as needed and get as close to the sources of inputs as required by latency, security, or other critical drivers.
This initial certified HPE EL8000 Azure Stack solution will be offered in partnership with Avanade. As the most experienced Microsoft Azure cloud services partner, with more Microsoft Certified Professionals on Azure than any other Microsoft partner, Avanade is the perfect partner to accelerate the delivery of this solution to market. Avanade’s existing Azure Stack managed services will be available for the HPE Edgeline 8000 based solution at launch. Look for more information from HPE and Avanade in the coming weeks on the full solution details and official launch dates.
Complete information on the HPE Edgeline EL8000 Converged Edge System is available here.
HPE Azure Stack solutions at Microsoft Ignite
HPE will have our certified Azure Stack HCI solution on display in our booth (2549) at Microsoft Ignite. Our new solution will be powering a mixed reality solution in partnership with Kognitiv Spark leveraging Microsoft HoloLens to deliver real time work instructions in remote locations that don’t have the required connectivity that a mixed reality solution would normally require. Additionally, there are a number of related sessions that will be presented throughout the week.
For more information about these new HPE Edgeline based Microsoft Azure Stack solutions, you should plan to attend the Intelligent Edge Expert Panel session on Tuesday, November 5 from 12pm to 1:30pm. You can click here to register. You should also attend my edge focused presentation from the Microsoft Ignite show floor (the Hub) in Theater C at 4:20pm, also on Tuesday, November 5. A complete list of all of the HPE led activities at Microsoft Ignite is available on the HPE.com Ignite Event web site. A reminder that all demos and HPE theater sessions will be held at the HPE Booth 2549. Hope to see you there.
Over the last few years, HPE has been focused on deliver innovative solutions to support the Intelligent Edge. Our CEO, Antonio Neri has announced a $4B investment in edge-based solutions to help continue HPE’s edge focused innovation. One of the most significant innovations has been the creation of the Edgeline Converged Edge Systems. Recognized by Forrester and Gartner as a brand-new product category, HPE has delivered solutions with unprecedented levels of compute capabilities, embedded OT control systems and industry leading manageability, all in compact form factors that can handle the extended temperature, humidity, and vibration found in real-world “edge” locations. More information about the Edgeline Converged Edge Systems can be found on the HPE Edgeline Converged Edge Systems web page
