Simplified management, security and provisioning strike again, thanks to HPE and Citrix
By Prashanto Kochavara
The biggest drivers today in the End User Computing (EUC) market, whether around infrastructure, services or software, focus on simplified management, security and provisioning. Citrix Cloud does a great job at providing these capabilities through their Citrix Cloud XenApp and XenDesktop Service. Citrix Cloud hosts the infrastructure components and lets you run your virtual apps or desktops on-premises, enabling a hybrid cloud architecture.
The Citrix Ready HCI Workspace Appliance program enables HCI appliances to connect to Citrix Cloud and automate the integration with the XenApp and XenDesktop Service. HPE SimpliVity will be part of the Citrix Ready HCI Workspace Appliance program by supporting deployment, provisioning and overall management through the XenApp and XenDesktop Service from Citrix Cloud.
Built on superior and secure DL380 servers, the HPE SimpliVity product as part of the HCI workspace will define new standards for simplicity, security, maintenance and performance for EUC workloads.
HPE SimpliVity will not only support the XenApp and XenDesktop Service through Citrix cloud, but also take it one step further by providing software integration that automates the connection between your on-prem SimpliVity cluster and Citrix cloud - making it even simpler to consume Citrix Cloud services. This software integration will basically turn your HPE SimpliVity cluster into a turnkey hybrid cloud appliance ready for deploying and running virtual desktops and applications.
The software integration is provided free of cost and will live within the same user interface tools (hypervisor managers) that are used to manage SimpliVity environments while also supporting multi-hypervisor environments. This means that no additional management interface needs to be learnt and that SimpliVity clusters can be connected to Citrix Cloud directly on-demand from the Hypervisor management interface (which is also the primary interface for SimpliVity systems).
With this offering customers will be able to manage and control their EUC offerings on multiple distributed SimpliVity clusters/sites through management components hosted directly within Citrix Cloud. Combining the superior data services, security and simple intuitive management of SimpliVity systems along with easy management, security and maintenance through Citrix Cloud, you end up with the industryโs most powerful, simple and secure workspace appliance - HPE SimpliVity 380.
