HPE Alletra Storage MP: the next step in HPE’s vision for supporting SAP HANA
Learn how HPE Storage products continue to change the way you look at storage for SAP HANA. Certified for SAP HANA at launch, new HPE Alletra Storage MP powering HPE GreenLake for Block Storage gives you the future flexibility and scalability you need.
–By Craig Sullivan, SAP Technical Marketing Engineer, HPE
Less than a year ago, HPE announced HPE GreenLake for Block Storage. When it comes to SAP HANA, the discussion then centered on how HPE GreenLake for SAP HANA and HPE GreenLake for Block Storage can provide scalable infrastructure to support SAP solutions.
Now, just last month, HPE announced a new architecture, HPE Alletra Storage MP. This new product will become the future foundation of the GreenLake for Block Storage offerings and SAP HANA.
Why this matters to SAP customers
If you’re a current SAP customer, you’re well aware of the 2027 deadline when support for current SAP solutions running on databases other than SAP HANA will end. The key questions around navigating this SAP HANA migration center around what options you’ll have for updating current infrastructure to keep your business running smoothly – with an eye toward the future.
Here’s why the announcement of HPE Alletra Storage MP for HPE GreenLake for Block Storage is such good news.
Once again, HPE products certified for SAP HANA
Just like all HPE’s storage products, HPE GreenLake for Block Storage, powered by HPE Alletra Storage MP, is certified for SAP HANA. Both our previous all-flash HPE Alletra products, the HPE Alletra 6000 and HPE Alletra 9000, were certified on launch day. The Alletra MP was no different, showing HPE’s commitment to everyone who needs the best availability and performance for SAP HANA.
Scalability is built in
This new block storage solution is designed with scalability in mind. This is especially important as you try to keep your current environments running while deploying SAP HANA. HPE GreenLake for Block Storage will allow you to start small and grow either throughput or capacity independently as you make the transition.
No room for downtime
If there is one obvious commonality among all SAP HANA customers, it’s that downtime is bad. Because these systems run your primary business functions and availability is crucial. HPE Greenlake for Block Storage powered by Alletra MP continues our 100% data availability guarantee.
Simple provisioning and more
Managing multiple SAP HANA and non-HANA environments can be a challenge. As you make the transition to SAP HANA, determining which system to put on which storage array is actually easier with HPE storage solutions. With the Data Services Cloud Console (DSCC), you have a complete view of your entire fleet of storage. Intent-based provision makes deploying new systems a breeze. Once they’re up and running, monitoring the performance and capacity can be done with HPE InfoSight, allowing you to avoid problems before they happen.
Of course, the work doesn’t stop once SAP HANA is deployed. There are still backup, recovery, and business continuity plans to worry about. HPE and DSCC have you covered with GreenLake for Data Protection and HPE GreenLake for Backup and Recovery already integrated to make your life easier.
Stay tuned
You’ll be seeing more about this solution and others as we continue our commitment to you, our current and future customers running SAP HANA. In the meantime. . .
