Re: i have configured two HP 5406zl switches need suggestion...trunk goes to block state for 2920

Hello.  Which of the two 5400R's does the 2920 connect to? On which VLAN(s) is the trunk blocked?

Can you attach the output of "show span <vlan> | ex Disabled"?  Also the 2920 config.

Thanks.

Where is the 2920 connected?  Where is the blocking occurring (port & VLAN)?

What is the "show span" output for that switch?  Config?

Re: i have configured two HP 5406zl switches need suggestion...trunk goes to block state for 2920

Is the 2920 connected to port F24 on *both* core switches?

If so, unless you configure distributed trunking, then it is normal that one of these links should be blocked.

If you are having connectivity problems, then check you have all VLANs membership configured the same on

 - both of the 2920 uplink ports

 - portF24 on both cores

 - on all ports on both sides of the 5406<---->5406 link

FYI, if you have the newest 5400R chassis populated with V3 modules only, you can now stack them using a technology called VSF (Virtual Switching Framework). It allows you to use 10Gb or 40Gb ports to stack a pair of 5400R - much the same as the ProCurve 3800/3810 switches, but without the stacking module.
