Add 10GigE/Flex-10 to c7000 with 460c G1s
I currently have a c7000 chassis with 14 BL460c G1s and 2 BL465c G1s all running VMware ESXi 4.1. I have Cisco 3020s in bays 1 and 2 and Brocade FC switches in 3 and 4.
I am looking to add 10 GBE to our network and to these blades. From my research, I am planning to purchase 2 VC Flex-10 switches and install them in bays 5 and 6 and 16 NC522m NICs.
I would like to keep the Cisco 3020s and Brocade switches in their current spots and add the 10-gig capability.
Does anyone have this configuration running?
I see that virtual connect firmware 3.10 removes the need for a virtaul connect switch to be installed in bay 1. Is this correct? Has anyone confirmed this?
(Under What's New v3.10: http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13127_na/13127_na.html)
The quickspecs for the NC522m don't list the 460c G1 as compatible:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13347_na/13347_na.HTML
However, the quickspecs for the 460c G1 do list the NC522m as an option:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12518_na/12518_na.html
and this page does list 460c (G1) as compatible:
