Beware - SP 8.2 BSOD my BL460c

I installed SP 8.2 on a BL460c and in a matter of less that 12 hours, it crashed 3 times with a BSOD. I reverted back to the 8.15 SP and forced all drivers and agents to downgrade and I have not see a BSOD since (about 6 days sincd I did the downgrade).

Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise. Running Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 (not sure if that matters).

f you have a P400 controller, they just released a firmware upgrade to resolve an issue.

Also, check your event log for any hpqilo2 events.

Downgrade your ILO2 Managemen Controller driver back to 1.80. This solved my ASR reboots.

Re: Beware - SP 8.2 BSOD my BL460c

Boot from SAN, so I don't use the RAID controller. I have another server, new image, for Win2008 64-bit with latest HP everything (except maybe firmware) that had an ASR hours after deploying the image to it. I will try the ILO2 Management Controller driver back to 1.80 as you suggested.

Re: Beware - SP 8.2 BSOD my BL460c

According to the release notes, version 1.11 is supposed to fix the ASR problem. I am at 1.11, yet I still get ASR. So I don't think this is my problem.

Re: Beware - SP 8.2 BSOD my BL460c

I have a spare blade that I use for testing. I put a new image on it, with the 8.15 SP, and then updated it to the latest HP 8.2 SP and also updated the iLO management driver to 1.11. Within a half hour of updating it it did an ASR.

Does HP even have a QA department anymore? I mean come on - within a half hour it does an ASR and no one caught this? This is the 3rd blade it has done this on and it does it on both 32bit Windows 2003 and 64bit Windows 2008.

Yeah i know what you mean, it is frustrating.

Just keep them all at 1.8 for now, should be fine.
