BL460c with Server 2003 SP2 x64 and HP NC512m NICs
Having major problems with NC512m NICs after a varying amount of time (sometimes seconds) they loose the uplink and windows shows the connection as 'Network Cable Unplugged).
However the mgmt interface on both switches (10GB HP Ethernet full width blade chassis switch) shows as the cable is uplinked.
A reboot or disabling and the re-enabling the interface in windows causes the link to return for a short while but it will fail shortly after( the most it has lasted is two hours)
The two nic ports are teamed (have tried unteamed) and both ports fail at once most of time. This is happening on all the windows 200 x64 servers but not at the same time.
I have updated the drivers and the HP network utility without success.
Any ideas?

Re: BL460c with Server 2003 SP2 x64 and HP NC512m NICs
I would make sure that you are running driver version: 3.4.337.8240. From the Revision History it states that this driver fixes the following:
- NIC becomes unresponsive after running for 24 days.
- High stress conditions produce a Windows panic.

-----------------------------------
You can also check the firmware version of the 10Gb Ethernet switch... There is a boot image and firmware image. The latest version of both is 1.1.50.

from the CLI of the switch, you can type /boot/cur to get the existing versions.

Re: BL460c with Server 2003 SP2 x64 and HP NC512m NICs
Thanks for the responses, I have since managed to fix the problem.
HP documentation states that servers with more than 32GB RAM the nc512m driver will fail.
This is simply not true, it should say more that 31.9GB! Lowering the server RAM in the boot.ini to just shy of 32GB has fixed the problem.
