In looking at the quickspecs, it says that the BL870c i2 supports partner blades but in looking at all of the other docs, it seems like to use a partner blade, you have to use the adjacent slot in the pair.
I guess I'm confused because a BL870c uses 2 full heights so that the adjacent slot is already in use.
Are you really able to pair a partner blade with a BL870 and if so, could you actually pair more than one?

Solution
BL870c i2 supports partner blade, but only with blade link 2E (BL2E). BL2E is different for c7000 and for c3000.

Check the table on page 50.
You can pair only one partner blade with a BL870c i2.

Re: BL870c i2
Thanks, that was exactly what I was looking for...
I don't know why I was having such a hard time wrapping my head around that concept...

Re: BL870c i2
Be carefull installing blade links for BL870 i2. In every case you must check blade link type, blade chassis type and bay position the blades are installed in. Mistake results in damage of blade link connectors.
